Effective Stress Relief with EFT Tapping!

You know what stress is and maybe even what causes you to be stressed. But do you know that everyone can have different stressors? Stress is your reaction to some event that is you allow to upset you. How it will effect you has to do with your individual response. The damage from stress also depends on whether it lasts just a short time or if you have a lasting psychological response to the stressor.

When you don’t deal with the underlying cause of your stress, treating your reaction to whatever is stressing will be like taking pain killers for cancer. It doesn’t cure the cancer, it only helps alleviate the pain of the cancer.

Chronic Stress

Habitual stress in your life can seem like a condition that won’t go away. And it's most dangerous for your body to be in prolonged periods of stress. Being chronically stressed is like trying to outrun a grizzly bear continuously. Your body responds to stress like that by turning off or slowing all non-essential things your body doesn't need to escape that bear. Meanwhile it is releasing the stress hormone: Cortisol. Your digestion, sleep, memory are all inhibited while your blood pressure and heart rate goes high. Needless to say, it's not a healthy existence. 

Unhealthy Methods To Relieve Stress

Many people do try to alleviate the experience of stress, but in unhealthy ways such as drinking alcohol, taking drugs or pharmaceuticals and STRESS EATING! In fact the food you eat under the effects of stress is called "comfort food"! It may relieve stress while you're eating it, but afterwards you feel even worse and guilty for breaking your diet.

That’s why when I tell people that there is actually a do it yourself technique that works quickly and effectively to expose the underlying cause of your stress, and get rid of the problem they are skeptical. However, real double blind studies testing the efficacy of EFT meridian tapping have proven it works. Test subjects had blood taken before and after tapping and other types of therapy for stress. EFT tapping was far away the most immediate and LASTING effect to lower the stress hormone cortisol.

Properly Prescribed Medication Can Kill You

In the US, allopathic medicine (regular M.D.) is the only treatment that most medical insurance will pay for. Many people are so convinced of conventional medicine’s superiority that they are not even open to considering that there are ways to heal that don’t come in a pill! It’s very unfortunate, and potentially deadly. The pharmaceutical corporations make billions of dollars despite the statistics that show the fourth leading cause of death in this country is from properly prescribed pharmaceutical medication! Why would you want to make yourself so vulnerable without even trying another approach to healing?

What Is EFT Tapping?

I discovered tapping, also known as EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique and have been amazed how it works. It’s called “tapping” because that’s what you do. There are specific energy meridians that run through your body. These are some of the same places that are used in acupuncture. With tapping, you thankfully don’t need the needles stuck into you, and instead tap on specific points on your body.

How Does Tapping Work?

While you tap on these specific spots it’s important to deliberately experience the “feelings” that are bothering you, or causing you pain. Start with the biggest problem. Such as being angry or ashamed of your body. Because that's generally the reason that people start dieting- and start turning to food for comfort! 

When you are tapping on those specific places on your head and body you may find spontaneous thoughts arising that will lead you to understand the underlying causes of your problem. It’s truly amazing when that happens. It did for me!

While tapping, and going through this process, you will find your pain and problem is lessening. For some people one session can make a profound immediate difference; for others it may take a number of sessions (that can be over a period of hours), or days. For many people they release one hurtful emotion and then have to go on to the next. It's like untangling your hair. You do it slowly and carefully a little at a time.  But the bottom line is EFT tapping WORKS for most people to relieve negative emotions and to help them stop stress eating!

Tapping Away Emotional Pain

Tapping is also effective to deal with physical pain. But I think in many ways it works even better on emotional issues.  It can help you deal with insecurity about your body image.  And it’s those negative feelings about yourself that actually make physical pain worse. When you say negative judgmental statements about yourself silently or out loud, your brain feels attacked. It doesn’t know whether it’s real or imagined. 

Stress Eating can be stopped by tapping. But you have to "catch it" before you start. That's why it's so important to be mindful of what you're feeling. Even before you start tapping it's important to write down a SUDS rating. That's your subjective assessment of how bad you are feeling: 0 - 10. Ten in the worst. So after you tap you ask yourself how you are feeling and you can see the change. It REALLY works. It can take away the stress so you don't feel like eating all those foods you've been trying to avoid in one sitting!

I recommend that you investigate for yourself. This DVD movie “The Tapping Solution” will take your through the experience of a group of people who were trained in how to use this remarkable tool. There are also fascinating interviews with experts who have been using EFT with their clients.I actually “tapped along” with the movie and was working on some personal issues at the time. It actually worked!

I can tell you that this has also helped me healing from a physical recurring problem with achilles tendonitis that kept me sidelined for a long time. The first bout that I suffered had me going for physical therapy for months, wearing special orthotics (very expensive), doing stretches, and abstaining from tennis and even walking! I was miserable. It finally went away after 8 months. But I was so miserable that I worried every time I felt a twinge in my heel!

Don’t Give Up

When the pain started again 4 years later, I felt really depressed and concerned. Then I thought about trying tapping. I figured, “it can’t hurt me!” I went to group practice with an EFT practitioner, (I was walking with a cane!) and after about 1.5 hours of going through a number of tapping sessions, the pain was so much better. I tapped along with the other group members who were working on other issues. But the best thing that happened was the next day, the tendonitis was GONE!! I’m not saying it was better, there was no evidence that I had any condition! I had been limping, taking anti-inflammatory medication, not sleeping from the pain, resting and not exercising other than stretching. The day I did EFT was one of my worst! The next day it was gone.

So much of pain is emotional that makes the physical worse. 

So, the question is, do you want to dismiss something because it sounds weird, woo woo, or like a placebo effect? (By the way, EFT works on animals that have no idea of what is being done to them!). Or are you willing to find out more and TRY it on everything? What do you have to lose, except pain or some condition that has been bothering you?  

EFT To Stop Stress Eating

You can use EFT Tapping to stop stress eating! If a stressful event is getting to you and you are feeling like you need comfort food, stop and tap first. Give yourself a few minutes to go through the process and then ask yourself: Am I hungry? You may realize that once your stress is relieved you no longer want to go and eat.
