Big Stress Makes Big Belly

I know it all sounds impossible. So much of  you’ve been taught: eat low fat, use vegetable oils instead of saturated fats; don’t eat meat, eating fat will give you a heart attack… Is WRONG! Your doctor is probably just as confused as you are. Their way to deal with the confusion is to listen to Big Pharma’s “Detail People”, the ones I call “drug pushers”. They are the people who get right into your doctor’s office while you sit in the waiting room for hours! The Diet Industry is making $60 BILLION a year on dieting, from all the repeat business. So what is causing people to be overweight? It’s a HUGE issue (pardon the pun), and still not fully understood. But one thing is for CERTAIN: STRESS changes your physiology, and no matter how “clean” you eat, WHAT you eat, HOW MUCH you eat, STRESS is going to make most diets ineffective. The funny thing is, there is a smaller percentage of people who LOSE weight from stress; but the majority of people gain weight from stress.  

What can you do? STOP DIETING! As soon as you start eating less, your body goes into a state of stress. Your metabolism slows down, and you will not lose as quickly as when you started. Then you’ll have to eat even less, and this starts a whole cascading slide of problems.

Food is your way of taking care of yourself, nurturing your body, your mind, your soul. Be good to yourself. Deal with the stress, or it will deal with you. Remember, it’s not just what you’re eating, it’s what’s eating you. Being overweight is NOT YOUR FAULT. You’ve been misled about what to eat, and how you even got overweight in the first place! So stop beating yourself up! Because that is not going to help, and in fact, it will hurt you even more.
