The journey to stop obsessing over your body and weight is very difficult. It is very stressful. That stress can backfire and affect your metabolism. And it can cause stress eating! 

You've been conditioned for most of your life to believe that being thin is the only way you can be attractive and valued. So, changing your mindset and beliefs to become less conscious of your body and weight is a hard long road. But it will be the most rewarding one you can take in your life. 

Steps To Stop Obsessing Over Your Body & Weight

  • Start by Journaling about what first started you feeling bad about your body.
  • Look for new role models to learn about and admire who are NOT thin and who make great contributions to the world or even to one person.
  • Learn how dieting actually causes weight gain, and why it’s the worst thing you can do.
  • Look in the mirror directly at your face, and think that you are talking to some one else. Then tell your image in the mirror that you love them. Gradually that image will become you talking to yourself saying you love yourself.
  • Do gentle exercise for stress relief, like gentle yoga. Appreciate whatever place you are in right now. Give your body credit and love for what it CAN do. Throw away your FitBit!
  • Do stress relief focused on joy you’ve experienced in your life. (get my report to learn other very effective stress relieving methods!)
  • Eat everything! And do it mindfully, where you are focused only on your food: the taste, texture, where you taste it in your mouth, eating very slowly and deliberately, and ENJOY it!
  • Every night, do a thankful “prayer”, “meditation” or whatever your belief system tells you, and be thankful for your life- because where you are is where you’re supposed to be. Be grateful for “what is” and how it is a path of learning that you are walking.
  • Realize that this will take time, so be very gentle and nurturing with yourself. Be like the best parent you could ever imagine for yourself!

Most important to stop obsessing over your body and weight is to realize it's not a straight road. You will have set backs. But whenever you do,  repeat your mantra and forgive yourself. Get back on the road!
