Time Magaine says Eat Butter It's Heart Healthy

Low Fat Diets Increase Heart Disease & Overweight

Your body is always talking to you and giving you important information about what you need to take care of yourself properly. Some signals are: thirst, fatigue, hunger,  desire for salty or sweet foods, urgency to use the bathroom, yawning, sneezing, and pain! But we’ve been encouraged to ignore some of these signals by “professionals”.

There is so much conflicting information about what is healthy and what foods you should avoid. And much of this information has made a 180 degree change over the years.

There was a time when people ate animal products, butter, fats, eggs and dairy. That was before the government changed the food pyramid and told you it was now unhealthy, and instead to eat grains, and vegetable oils! By the way, when people ate those animal products and fats, the heart attack rate was 75{5b8e831512cf0c284f7edae7fc403e9a09e5b1736c5b1d60e4451a29dc064ebe} lower than it is now!

Time magazine’s cover story  tells you to go back to eating butter, dairy, eggs and meat. In fact, butter and dairy have protective effects lowering rates of heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes! But how many people are unaware of the change in the government’s recommendation? How many companies are still touting low fat as “heart healthy”?

Now, “nutritionists” are telling you not to eat carbs: gluten, grains and sugar (and salt). The popular Paleo diet, eating like a caveman with no wheat, grains, limited fruit and NO white sugar has many people claiming that this new plan is helping them lose weight. However, what other long-term side effects are being discovered by people who have followed this newest trend? Hypothyroid and slowed down metabolism are the effects being reported by people who have stayed eating this plan for long period of time. You may lose weight, but you’ll also lose your hair, drop your body temperature (get socks to wear when you go to bed), increase your LDL, trigycerides, increase your risk of heart attack, diabetes, candida and a host of other negative side effects.

I am certain that in the future, the same people who blamed grains and salt and sugar for all the evil effects on the body will be eating humble pie. Our brain needs sugar to function, salt is also a necessity to increase metabolic rate and keep your nervous system calm.

Perhaps its actually time to start listening to your body. Eat what you are hungry for: but eat it mindfully, in a relaxing manner. What will this do for your health?

  • It will lower your stress, because you are no longer rushing and multi-tasking. When your cortisol levels drop, your body digests your food more effectively.
  • Eating mindfully and slowly will allow you to realize when you’ve had enough to eat. So rather than just eating everything that is on your plate, you will actually eat exactly enough as determined by the signals from your stomach. And you may find that you are not eating enough- you’re still hungry, and need to eat more!

Want to lose weight?

It’s not always possible due to your genetic inheritance. Studies of twins separated at birth and raised by different families have shown that their body weight is within a few ounces difference later in life!

But the best chance you actually have to lose weight is to lose stress first!  EFT, (Emotional Freedom Technique), Meridian Tapping has been shown in Harvard University studies to cut cortisol as much as 50{5b8e831512cf0c284f7edae7fc403e9a09e5b1736c5b1d60e4451a29dc064ebe} within minutes! Conversely, dieting and not eating the food you want, but eating the food you “should” eat and hate is stressful! So you won’t permanently lose weight, and you will raise your cortisol levels which sabotage any diet you are following!

While you may complain that you don’t have time for a daily stress relief program, you eat at least two times a day. That is your opportunity to do your stress relief! Mindful, slow eating as stress relief is the most effect path to permanent weight loss. It will also improve your mood and your health at the same time. So stop stressing, and start eating what you desire; but do it mindfully!
