When you are trying to lose weight; hopefully you are NOT on a diet. Because if you’ve been following my blog, you know that cutting calories, and especially good fats is actually going to work against you.  But if you know that you want to avoid gluten, but that garlic bread looks and smells SO good! And maybe you think: if I just take a little bite… then I’ll be satisfied. But after the first bite, it becomes even harder to stop.

But there is a way to block those cravings, and turn what you KNOW into what you DO.

That’s where EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique, or Meridian Tapping shines! It’s not a placebo effect; like when a doctor tells you that taking a sugar pill will cure a headache, and then it works. EFT has nothing to do with your belief system. It’s a process of tapping on specific points on your head and body that correspond to acupuncture points. While experiencing a particular feeling, and saying the words about those feelings while tapping on these points, stuck emotions that are blocking the energy flow along these meridians, release. That blocked energy is almost like when you have a song running through your mind, and you can’t make it stop.  No matter how you try to stop thinking about that song, it just keeps going on and on. But when you use EFT Tapping, it has the power to unclog that blocked meridian that keeps your good energy from flowing, and allowing you to make good choices.

Go through a couple of rounds of tapping, and voila, and those particular emotions no longer have power over you! 

EFT Tapping is one of the best tools when you are craving a food, a cigarette, a drink, or even a drug, and you are having trouble resisting! It’s best to follow along with a trained EFT practitioner in the beginning. Later on, you can tap for yourself. Another amazing thing about tapping is that it works almost IMMEDIATELY!

A friend of mine used tapping while in the grocery store. We all know how much junk we can put in the cart when we shop when we are hungry. When he looked into his cart, it was filled with Twinkies and other food that he KNEW he would feel bad about eating later. But the cravings were so strong. So, on the line, Jeff started going through the EFT Tapping sequence. “Even though I’m craving, and put all this junk food into my cart, I choose to love, and accept myself.” Say this set up statement three times to make sure that you are focused on that one feeling at a time.

Then Jeff started tapping. Because he was a bit embarrassed to have people see him doing this strange looking activity, he tapped on the hand points instead of his body. After just one round of tapping, Jeff looked back into the cart, and felt MUCH less interest in those sweet pastries and junk food. After another round of EFT tapping, Jeff realized he no longer wanted the food, and took the stuff back, and replaced it with food that he now truly wanted.

EFT Tapping is great because you can do it for yourself. You don’t have to go into a room by yourself, change your clothes, or go on vacation. You have all the equipment you need as part of your body!
